Our purpose is simple, to help provide research-based solutions for organisations committed to creating a more sustainable future. We do this by understanding people. How they think, feel and behave with regards to the environment and climate change. Their values, believes and attitudes. What they understand and what confuses them. What they’re prepared to change and what they’re not. Onearth launched on World Environment Day 2006 as a full service qualitative and quantitative research agency. We work with a wide range of organisations, from government, to corporations, academics and NGOs, in countries as diverse as Bhutan, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Russia and the USA. We create and deliver original and pragmatic research; empathetic to the complex and sensitive issues that define sustainable development. We are researchers, not campaigners and always aim to offer impartial knowledge. We believe in what we research, but also understand the need for objectivity. We will help clients wherever we can, but never set out to 'prove' a sustainable outcome.

Hay Onearth: May/June 2011
As part of the 2011 Hay Festival (www.hayfestival.org) Onearth was invited to run two sessions and an online survey: For the first session, Steve shared the stage with Jane Davidson and Jeremy Davies. The panel discussion was chaired by the BBC's environment correspondent David Shukman and debated our research around the emerging language of energy, commissioned by E.ON, in partnership with Futerra. The second session was for the Green Dragon's Den. Steve discussed current thinking on the relationship between peoples' values, attitudes and pro-environmental behaviours. Why we are reluctant to change and what helps to motivates us. In the month leading up to the Festival, we ran an online survey on the Hay website. Visitors were asked about their views on coverage of environmental issues in the media and changes they would like to see.
